2007 Can be a new way of doing Christmas

Yesterday was black Friday. I am not thinking I got too caught up in it. I bought my years worth of socks (which I truly needed!) and a couple pair of socks as gifts. After all, socks are not underwear. And you can make such a statement with socks. My friend who makes less money than I offered to buy me socks once when she caught me wearing a holey pair one more time! So I try to make sure I buy my own.

I bought some calendar gifts. Who could resist Maxine? Oh and I bought some dishes for a friend in need and got such a deal. He really needed those dishes, too. And I bought my daughter’s (Christmas/Birthday and a few house cleanings-worth) present. And the one thing I feel guilty about is that she needed it right then.

But should we not give when needed? I don’t want Christmas to be about gifts received and maybe not even about the generosity of gifts given. My favorite is to give anonymously. I make the gifts that I can because they express my tender love and care towards my friends and loved ones.

But how about what the holidays are really about, a time to celebrate God’s love given to a fallen world. We are so focused on stuff that holds us to the here and now and often forget about who we are and where we came from and more importantly where we are going in this journey.

So here is a web site that has a purpose of changing Christmas. Do you dare?

Ok... I have to learn something about Html so I can make this a real link...
